All Around Performance

1. Criteria: Awarded to the Midshipmen for the most outstanding performance in the field of academics, physical fitness training, community service and military criteria.

2. Award Authority: BNCO recommendation to Battalion Advisor.

Academic Excellence

1. Criteria: Awarded annually to midshipmen with an overall average of 3.5-4.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
(NOTE: a Silver "E" is worn in the center of the ribbon for a 3.75 - 4.0).

2. Award Authority: BNCO recommendation to Academic Advisor.

Academic Achievement

1. Criteria: Awarded annually to midshipmen with an overall average of 3.0-3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

2. Award Authority: Company Commander recommendation to Academic Advisor.

Commendation Award

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen for recognition of meritorious achievements.

2. Award Authority: BNCO recommendation to Battalion Advisor recommendation to CO.

Leadership Award

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen who have shown exemplary conduct and leadership while members of the staff.

2. Award Authority: BNCO recommendation to Battalion Advisor recommendation to CO.

Community Service

1. Criteria: Awarded to those recognized for meritorious services to the community. Nomination Should be accompanied proof of meritorious service beyond expectations.

2. Award Authority: Company Commander recommendation to Battalion Advisor.

Physical Fitness

1. Criteria: Awarded to those with a score of 285 on the USMC PFT or Outstanding on the USN PRT.

2. Award Authority: Athletics Officer recommendation to AMOI.

Drill Team

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen participating in the drill team for one academic year.
(NOTE: Some units do not wear the "Drill Team" bar)

2. Award Authority: Drill Team OIC recommendation to AMOI.

Color Guard

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen in the unit color guard or drum and bugle corps for one academic year.

2. Award Authority: Color Guard OIC recommendation to AMOI.

Intramural

1. Criteria: Awarded to those midshipmen who participated in any form of organized sports for one academic semester.

2. Award Authority: Athletics Officer recommendation to AMOI.

Rifle / Pistol Team

1. Criteria: Awarded to any member of the Rifle / Pistol Team for one academic semester.

2. Award Authority: Rifle / Pistol Team OIC recommendation to AMOI.

Sailing Award

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen who qualify as skippers B and are part of the team.

2. Award Authority: Sail Team OIC recommendation to Sail Team Advisor.

Recruiting

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen instrumental in the enrollment of new NROTC recruits.

2. Award Authority: Midn Recruiting Officer recommendation to Unit Recruiting Officer.

Cruise Ribbon

1. Criteria: Awarded to midshipmen for exemplary performance while assigned to Summer cruise.

2. Award Authority: Staff Cruise Coordinator.
